need. out. of. baylor. university. in waco. texas..

Why? [begin rant]

1. Waco, Texas is ghetto. Very ghetto.
In fact, if there's nothing exciting(which is quite often) happening amongst Baylor students, there are no cool places to go. There is no live music here. Well, actually, you can see an unlimited number of Christian bands play the same songs at nearly every church every Sunday.

2. There is no personality at this school + I had more intellectually stimulating conversation in high school.
Everyone dresses, looks, and thinks the same here. Most everyone wears at least something Abercrombie and Fitch at least once per week. A majority here also think they are subject to the wrath of God for any sin. I can't take it anyore. Attending chapel here drives me crazy with all the dumbass students standing up swinging their arms in the air to shitty Christian songs where 'Jesus' is repeated a hundred times for a chorus.

3. Contrary to popular belief, the majority of the girls at this school are not attractive.
That, or they're Baptist, which speaks for itself.

4. My limit of religious toleration has been reached. (Skip this if you feel you may get offended.)
Evolution here is a myth. Before I came to this school, I thought I was a Christian. When I learned all about Christianity and what it all meant, I realized how ridiculous I feel some of the things in the Bible are. I don't care what that book says, I believe humans are the product of random evolution and not too much different from animals. My friend Nate, who lives in my dorm, felt I was lost, so he had me speak to the pastor of the most popular church in Waco, Highland Baptist. That discussion further spurred my lack of belief in the Christian god. He could hardly answer any of my questions and told me things like, "Dogs and cats don't have souls. They don't go to Heaven or experience an afterlife." And, "All religions except Christianity lead to Hell." I sarcastically responded with, "Well it sounds to me like all the interesting people like Einstein and Nietzsche go to Hell, so maybe I'd rather be there anyway!" He did not find that funny and told me, "Hell is not a place to mingle. It is eternal burning. No strawberry daiquiris are served." A Christian school made me atheist. How ironic. Even though by modern connotation atheist infers disbelief in God, all atheist means is "without religion." I still like to believe there's the possibility of something out there, or some form of life after death exists. A final judgement which determines eternal bliss versus eternal burning defies logic. Please don't e-mail me arguing on this point. I've heard just about every Christian defense on this already.

Anyway, I have decided I need out of this place before I start having convulsions. I thought Baylor was going to be very different. My plans for next year (Wow, still a bit away) are to go to either SMU in Dallas or UT in Austin. I think I'd be happy at either. And I have concluded I will major in business or economics and psychology will be my minor wherever I end up going.

Waco statistics:
Crime rates more than twice that of national average.
19th poorest city in US.
Most churches per square mile in the nation.
Ironic eh?
